CHANGEweekend (I)

3 days - it was certainly a long weekend.

On 27-29 July 2012 (Fri - Sun), silentSHOUT team attended Changeweekend which was organised by Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA). With other social enterprise participants, facilitators and mentors (John Rehm & Kal Joffres), we were all placed in the training room, together connect, learn and share.

At the 1st Changeweekend : DEFINE, we learnt design thinking and lean start up methodology. We learnt about research, storytelling/synthesis and prototyping. It was an interesting experience working and completing required tasks with other participants in different groups (silentSHOUT team were split up).

It's awesome to find out those meaningful projects that the other social enterprises are doing or planning to do. It's great to receive useful ideas/suggestions by others, together we grow!

looking forward to having Changeweekend (ll). =)

WHY MAKE SHORTS...

WHY MAKE SHORT FILMS?

1. Experience / Dreams
Live your dreams as film-maker/ story-teller. Use the medium to express and voice your opinion/  message.
You can tell your story to the audiences in a short spend on time and it will be done before they want to flip channel: you can to captivate audiences with your story.

2. A showreel
To demonstrate your skills, creativity and to pursuit career in Media and Film industries( in this industries, showreel is as important as certificates; sometimes showreel is more important that certificate)

3.  Partnerships/ Collaboration
Testing chemistry working with certain people to see if you can go on to collaborate on projects in the future.

 4. Testing an idea
You have a feature film idea that you want to try out on a small scale first.

 5. Money
Shoot your short film, screen it and use it to raise money to make the FEATURE film.

WHERE THE SHORT FILM WILL BE SCREENED?
1. Your front room
Many filmmakers start out by testing their ideas on family and friends.

2.  A showreel
Proving  to others that you have filmmaking skills and/or to persuade them to give you some funding to make another film.

3. The Internet / Youtube/ Vlog
Fastest way to screen tour short film and get feedback from a wide range of people, internationally.

4. Television
If your film is of a high quality, a television channel may screen it.

5. The cinema
Some cinemas also run short film events.

6. Festivals
A great opportunity to get your film on the big screen, watched by an audience of industry people and by filmmaking peers.
